Gimzodo review hearts the GF1

Gizmodo has posted their "heart-GF1" review of the Panasonic GF1. Apparently the reviewer fell in love with the camera. Maybe it's because the popup flash looks like a cross between R2D2 and 3CPO :)

This is a gadget-blog style review, so do not expect to find dpreview-style technobabble.

Olympus E-P1 as a Voigtlander camera

Using the M-to-M43 adapter, Ervine Lin has posted his review of the Olympus E-P1 as a camera that uses Voigtlander lenses. This is a great angle to approach the camera, since we've already had plenty of "traditional" E-P1 reviews. Panasonic GH1 test at Trusted Reviews

One more review is in the books for the Panasonic GH1 which seems to be catching its second wind these days. The brand new review is posted by Cliff Smith at Trusted Reviews. This is using their standard format, with the conclusions on page #3, and samples starting on page #5 with ISO talk radio.

Panasonic 14-140mm tested at ALC

And we close M43rds week at ALC with the hands-on impressions of Mason Resnick at ALC. This is the superzoom lens that comes bundled with the GH1, but it is also available (in theory of course) on its own as well. This is the only superzoom lens available for M43rds at the moment.

Panasonic 7-14mm checked at ALC

This is not a full lens review, but since very few little is posted about this lens, it is of great interest. As part of his M43rds test-week at ALC, Mason Resnick has posted his impressions on the Panasonic 7-14mm, currently the only wide-zoom of M43rds.

E-P1 vs GF1 from a P&S user perspective

It is nice to see how cameras are perceived and evaluated from different perspectives and experience levels. And with that as a preface, here is a comparative user-review of the Olympus E-P1 and the Panasonic GF1 by Sam Weng. Cat pictures are included!

Panasonic GF1 report at TOP

Edward Taylor has written his Panasonic GF1 field report at the Online Photographer. This is an experiential photographer-priority type of a review, and the camera is compared with the Olympus E-P1 in the text of the review. So, what did they think? We won't reveal their findings here :)

On the availability front, Amazon has ran out of the zoom kit (now says "1 to 2 months") but it is still shipping there via J&R World. It is also available via B&H Photo et al.

Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens shipping

We interrupt the review-stream with an in-stock alert for a hard to find lens! The Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake lens is now shipping for its expected price of $400 from Amazon. Since the original post, J&R World has ran out of current stock.

Also shipping from those two is the LVF1 external viewfinder (Amazon) which already has one review under its belt.

The dpreview review of the Panasonic GF1

A big two days for the Panasonic GF1. Yesterday, the Imaging Resource review was finalized, today a 34-page review of the camera has been posted at dpreview.com. This is their usual mega-review format with lots of goodies, The conclusions are on page #33, and as usual we won't spoil them. Did it get an HR? Read on to find out...

Also of interest is a real-world comparison between the GF1 and the E-P1 they posted on page #32. To do this, they say, they spent a day shooting hundreds of side-by-side pictures using the kit-zoom lenses for each camera. They share what they found out as well!

In terms of availability of the Panasonic GF1 has the zoom-kit (with 14-45) shipping for $900, but the GF1 pancake kit (with 20mm) is in pre-order status.

Imaging Resource tests the Panasonic GF1

The timing of the review has been rather unfortunate, with many people curiously waiting for Nikon to officially reveal their Nikon D3s. But published it has been, and off to Imaging Resource we go for their finalized review of the Panasonic GF1!

This is the usual in-depth IR-style review, with conclusions and pros/cons towards the bottom of the review page, and lots and lots of additional information in the tabs at the top!

As usual, no spoilers here, although, if you have read the other reviews, by now, you may be able to guess. But every rose has its thorns...
